At our meeting last night a serious conversation came up in regards to the Critical Status of the Fire Service. The Association is trying to tackle this issue and has developed a seperate committee to work on the problem. In future there will be surveys and such coming out to the stations that will need Department attention. We will be asking for real facts such as manpower availability. We want the true info for instance we dont want to hear you have 20 Volunteers during the hours of 6A to 6P if in reality you have 5. We will be using this info to approach both County and Local Governments to show them how critical this problem is. Please respond to this request when you see it quickly!
I also want to address another issue and that is attendance at our Meetings. We took a quick poll last night and the data was not encouraging. For example out of 45 personell in attendance last night 5 were actual sitting Chiefs. I also looked at the company numbers and out of 59 paid departments less than 20 were represented.
The County looks at us first for input and responce and we try to speak for the Fire service as a whole. This is getting not only harder to do but due to the lack in attendance our word is not as strong as it was years ago.
This all being said please encourage your Chiefs and Presidents to attend future meetings and participate in these extreamly important conversations. We are much stronger together than seperatly! Just my two cents your President . ... See MoreSee Less
If you want attendance to improve at the meetings change the locations. Rotate every other month between the training center in Doylestown and the training center in Bristol. It might get some improvement for attendance.
I know I have been out of Bucks for some years...Is there really 59 paid departments...I can only think of 6...Bensalem, Bristol, Middletown, Lower Southampton, Northampton, Newtown... #StaffedRigs...Sorry 7 I almost forgot Warrington
Would it be a bad thing to go to a county wide system and actually pay people to do this job during the day ? Or around the clock?
I know going to a county system a lot of people will get mad and throw there hands up in the air because they aren’t the chief any longer . But sometimes you just need to do what’s best for everyone and not just one person .
And if not going to a paid county system why not merge? I’m talking company’s who have man power issues and let’s be honest some/most are worst then others when it comes to man power.
And please before anyone says anything. I don’t have the answers for these issues and I don’t attend these meetings . So these question might have already been addressed .

You should have your meetings on different days of the week. My company's drill night is Monday making it difficult to attend.
Sounds like you all are trying to make a no bullshit committee to tackle the issues best of luck hope PAticks don’t hinder to much progress
